We JENIKA is a professionally managed group of socially committed team of, lawyers, professionally qualified social workers and counselors involved in supporting our fellow beings who are shattered and traumatized due to different social issues, cultural norms and unstable economy. Special attention is given to those families headed by widows and unmarried women.
This is an NGO Primarily Focused on grass root level service to victims of Domestic violence, Sexually abused children, Disabled and Mentally challenged person, widows and unmarried women. We also provide victim truma care and sustainable financial help where the targeted families are headed by women.We also make compaigning through whatsapps, on-linepledges, making vedios, writing poem, taking photos and sharing victim stories.
JENIKA Charity foundation had its administrative office at Palarivattom Kochi, Ernakulam Dist. Kerala. Its trustees are social workers and is working at the grass root level in the field of upliftment of women and children for the last many years. Its managing trustee is a post graduate in law having her own office at Palarivattom and other trustees are law graduates and social workers. The managing trustee, Adv. Teena Cherian is working as resource person for various Govt. and Non-Govt Organisation and also worked as a legal adviser in Nirbhaya project, Bhoomika -a help desk for women and children and also as a service provider in Domestic violence cases and also a senior advocate panel member of legal service authority. All other trustees are active members and working in similar activities for last many years. The present Trust "JENIKA" is a product of social commitments of these trustees toward society.
Knowing the ground reality and fate of women and children who are abused in the society, Jenika came to the forefront with a vision to support its fellow beings who are traumatized due to various social issues, cultural norms and unstable economy. The trustees constantly believe that there is a genuine need for organizing themselves into a group, as the trustees are aware of the ground reality of the victims personally and about their problems. Now Jenika is in the forefront to achieve its goals and aspirations.
For realizing its vision, Jenika is taking awareness classes at the grass root level to Anganwade workers, in schools, in colleges, among kudumbasree workers and senior citizens. Jenika makes the targeted group aware about the existing laws and also provide both mental and psychological support for all women who are in need. Recently we have supported and adopted 10 families at the time of flood mostly families headed by widows, single women and home having disabled. We had given continuous support in the adopted families and supplied them with necessities. We are now providing legal and counseling support absolutely free to domestic violence victims and sexually abused girl children. We are also able to provide victim compensation from the Government to the effected victims of the domestic violence victims and sexually abused children. Domestic violence victims are now able to have a peaceful life with their husbands due to continuous counseling and mental support. Even their children are benefited trough financial aid and continuous counseling.. Those victims who were abandoned by the husbands or lovers were able to start an independent life due to the intervention of "JENIKA" and its team members. We are able to provide them with Court Orders, which help them to live back in the shared-house hold ie is in their matrimonial home and also getting maintenance from their husbands for their children. Many of the habitual drunkards are now turned to good care takers of their home due to the intervention of JENIKA.
We get reference from both Government and Non-Government organization and other private firms, asking for free legal counseling, and finance aid to the victims. We also provide individual counseling and mental support to the victims and their children so that they can start up their lives confidently.
Now JENIKA is deeply sensitized by the issue of children especially who are sexually abused and we started a project for the upliftment and rehabilitation of sexually abused children. Working at the grass root level with the children who are sexually abused, their agony and suffering made JENIKA to work for their personal and essential needs.
You can provide your time for social work according to your suitable time. Transforms out come for children in need of care and protection by volunteering your time. You can choose to teach ,be a mentor or a fundraiser as a volunteer.
Sponsor a child who is in high risk group in government school and help them to achieve their goals in life.
